A testicular implant, also called a testicular prosthesis, is an artificial implant placed in the scrotum to restore its appearance after a testicle is absent or has been removed. It does not produce hormones or sperm and does not restore fertility.
Placement may be discussed after testicular removal or for a testicle that did not develop or descend. Timing and suitability are decided with the urologist based on health and personal preference.
Your clinician will review your history, examination findings and preferences before recommending a plan. Ask about expected benefits, alternatives, preparation and follow-up.
Possible risks include infection, bleeding, discomfort, displacement or a difference in size or feel. Your surgeon will explain the procedure, alternatives and recovery.
